Day 79: 90 Day Commitment Challenge with Danelle Delgado

After a motivating discussion on goals and struggles with a friend I got home from work on Day 79 ready to roar into guitar practice and tackle some dress design. By the time my partner got home from a friends house to hit the hay, there was fabric everywhere through the house and I was muttering to myself about measurements and completely lost in my own world.

It was a successful and productive night though, managing to overcome an amateur sewing problem I was struggling with, and applying for a couple more weekend jobs to fill the incoming gap in my extra income, with my current weekend gig slowing down for the year. Got to keep that pipeline full!

Stay positive! Stay productive!

Day 77: 90 Day Commitment Challenge with Danelle Delgado

I’ve been pushing my body a little harder in yoga and yesterday it felt like it all caught up with me. My body ached all over, but it will be worth it! There’s something very satisfying about the post-workout ache, don’t you think?

I also started creating a new dress to flex my creative muscles, and started dreaming up a million other ideas as I wandered around a sewing supplies store… a danger zone for my saving plans when there’s a sale on…

I hope you’re having a satisfying and successful day today!

Day 74: 90 Day Commitment Challenge with Danelle Delgado

Day 74 just happened to be a public holiday in my region, which is AWESOME, because it meant I got to spend the entire day being creative and still have money coming in.

I spent the day solely on my creative goals, practicing guitar, listening intently to new music and trying to pick out what they were doing, and I stopped in to a second hand clothing shop to nab some items and fabrics that I could start to play with. It is the first time in a long time that I have forgotten to eat… a good sign goals-wise.

I managed to pick up a couple of plain black dresses which I can customize and play with, but what I am most excited about is a red pattered fabric that I can make into something completely my own!

I capped off my exciting and adventurous day with a very rare night out with my partner, to attend a performance called Cirkopolis, a blend of circus arts, theatre and dance, set in the industrial era. Definitely fitting for the theme of the day, and I think my partner appreciated some extra time with me! The hustle comes with sacrifices, but I try to nab extra time where I can. It’s the little things that keep a relationship going!

I hope you’re having a marvelous, fantastic, and successful day today!

Day 67: 90 Day Commitment Challenge with Danelle Delgado

Leading on from my epiphany the day before, my self-development and overall learning has started to naturally broaden, and I am starting to focus less on things specifically tied to my career development or future goals.

I have have decided to let my learning happen more organically, rather than forcing myself to learn about everything down a particular path, when perhaps the path I’d be most happy runs somewhere off to the side. The kind of path which is rarely used, and found only by feeling around for the rocks that used to show the way.

Queue entry of my sewing back into my life…

Although most of the people that will remember this aren’t really around anymore, I used to sew A LOT of my clothes in high school.

I’ve never actually known how to sew or construct clothes properly, so it was probably lucky that my style back then was some sort of fusion between bubblegum goth and punk rock! In actual fact, it was the very reason I did it. I didn’t want to wear the clothes in the shops, I wanted something different.

To a certain extent I am still this way. Unless im grinding away at home,  I like wearing nice, chic, clothes and shoes, but I still like to have that alternative edge. It’s not often I find something that ticks both of these boxes.

So what the hell, out somes the sewing machine… All in. Day 67 also brought the addition of a few new sewing supplies including a dressmaking mannequin, which is already more than I used to manage with! And now that we can actually just type any problem we have into the nearest laptop or smartphone and get a range of solutions or ideas back, well… There’s no excuses not to be able to wear exactly what I want now is there?!

I hope you’re having a motivating, invigorating, crazy, fantastic, successful day today!
